How to choose your Hat for that special occasion

Wearing a hat for that special occasion transforms an outfit and makes you feel like a celebrity for the day.

Take your time and enjoy every second in choosing a hat that will be MADE just for you.!!!

Here are some hints and tips on how to select your special hat.

COMPLIMENT YOUR OUTFIT

A hat always adds that finishing touch to your outfit and can compliment it in a variety of ways. You can choose a complimentary colour, or a colour to match your outfit completely, a hat with feathers a plain outfit with a bold statement hat, a trim in an alternative colour or vice versa. The choice is yours

COLOUR MATTERS

Get the colour right and you’ll not only look and feel sensational it will knock years off your age. You don’t have to match it to your outfit exactly just so long as the colour compliments one of the shades in your outfit or accessories, it will make an ordinary outfit turn into something special making you look and feel amazing!. What matters is choosing a shade that suits your complexion.

Colours in hats are different from colours in clothes because the light is diffused through the hat and thrown onto the face. For example, Apple Green will give pale skin a green tinge whilst Fuchsia will make you look red in the face.

Muted colours such as cream, lilac and dove grey are terrific on younger women but draining for anyone over 30. Either choose a bold colour or something like a neutral straw such as a boater – you can always add a ribbon in a strong colour such as Cornflower Blue.

PICK THE RIGHT SHAPE FOR YOUR FACE

Different hat styles suit different people and with a variety of shapes it is important to select the right one for you. Large brim hats suit taller ladies, whilst smaller hats and pill box hats suit round faces. For ladies with a fringe, it is best to cover the hairline so the fringe does not show creating a more elegant look.

EXPERIMENT WITH THE POSITION OF YOUR HAT

Not all hats belong in the center of our heads, some look best further forward or angled above the eyebrow. For a more stylish look, place your hat at an angle to match the angle of a jaw line. Try different angles and see which one works best for you based on your hat of choice.

EXPERIMENT WITH YOUR HAT ON IN FRONT OF A LONG MIRROR

It is always good to see how each style works with your specific body shape by seeing yourself in a full-length mirror. This way you can see all your proportions and which shape best works with your height and size. Remember to try and see the hat from all angles where possible.

ACCESSORISE TO COMPLIMENT YOUR HAT

Once you have selected your hat then choose the accessories that best compliment the overall look without overdoing things. For example, if your hat has a lot of detail on it then choose simple ear-rings or studs to go with it.

INVEST IN A HAT BOX

Ensure your hat stays in good condition by protecting it in tissue paper, with plenty of room around any detailing in a hat box

Remember – a good hat feels very comfortable to wear, looks great on you and compliments your outfit, giving you the confidence to stand out from the crowd!
